Clarence Marcus Zirbes, 91, of Stillwater, Oklahoma died on Saturday, April 16, 2011 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Oklahoma with Father Ken Harder officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on June 12, 1919 in Castlewood, South Dakota to John P. Zirbes and Catherine Zirbes. He married Shirley Smith on September 6, 1948 in Watertown, South Dakota.
He attended Country School and Castlewood High School. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He was a World War II veteran and was in General Patton’s 3rd Army and was ranked a 1st sergeant. He was also a part of the armored tank division and had an award for a European Campaign.
He is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
He is survived by two sons; Brent Zirbes of Canyon, Texas and Tim Zirbes of San Mateo, California; one daughter; Jill Boggs of Stillwater; and four grandchildren: Brandy Lyles, Andrea Zirbes, Scott Boggs, and Mike Boggs.
