Melvin Lyle Nance, 91, died on February 20, 2016, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. There will be a private family burial, and a memorial service will be held Friday, February 26, at 11:00 at the First Christian Church in Stillwater with Reverend John Bain officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mel was born on November 14, 1924, to Roy and Bertha Nance in Carney, Oklahoma. He graduated from Stillwater High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during WWII, and then married Margaret (Marge) Burger on April 15, 1950. He was the production supervisor and co-owner for over 40 years at Frontier Printers in Stillwater. He loved to travel and visited all 50 states. He also loved OSU sports, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marge, his parents, two brothers, and half-sister.
He is survived by three sons and their wives, Bob and Jeanette Nance of Edmond, Bryan and Ashley Nance and Bruce and Debbie Nance, all of Stillwater. His six grandchildren are Joy and Lucas Howard, Julie and Mark Fogarty, Dan and Cierra Nance all of Edmond, Matt Nance of Stillwater, Garrett Nance of Enid, and Michelle and Drew Dawson of Tulsa. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and loving family members and friends.
