Francis Clarence Elliott
Francis (Frank) Clarence Elliott, of Stillwater, OK passed away April 27, 2016 in the care of the Veterans Administration Hospital of Oklahoma City, OK after a short, but valiant battle with lung and heart disease. Services for Frank will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, May 2, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Stillwater, OK and will be a celebration of his life. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater.
Frank was born June 29, 1945 in Anadarko, OK to Lewis and Jean Elliott. The Elliott family resided in the Anadarko area throughout Frank’s childhood, where he developed his love for farming and being a cowboy. Frank graduated from Anadarko Public Schools and attended a few “small” Oklahoma universities and colleges prior to entering the US Army in 1968.
Frank served his Country proudly and honorably. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him accommodations and distinguishments as well as the respect of his fellow soldiers. He was honorably discharged in 1971, and returned to Oklahoma where he enrolled in Oklahoma State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. Following college, Frank began his life as a cowboy both as an alum and as an occupation.
He married Mary Anderson on August 2, 1973, whom he loved greatly until the day of his passing. Frank and Mary raised their family in the Anadarko area until later moving to Stillwater, where they made a home for their family and he became entrenched in the agriculture and ranching community. Frank “cowboyed” as long as his body would allow and when he began to struggle with “tossing” a steer on its side to trim its feet, he began a second career in selling livestock handling equipment and feed products.
Frank is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Kriss Elliott and wife Melissa of Frisco, TX, John Elliott of Brooklyn, NY; his daughter, Holly Clapp and husband John of Stillwater, OK; six grandchildren, Kara, Kaitlin, Madison, Savannah, Johni and Carson; his brother, Mike Elliott of Atoka, OK and his sister Lala Keserich of Salida, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Jean.
