Obituary for Patsy Lou Nichols
Patsy Lou Nichols, 84, died on Saturday, November 19, 2016 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on November 23rd, 2016 at the Crosspointe Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma with Norman Richmond officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Patsy was born on December 20, 1931 in Perry, Oklahoma to Fred and Mary Onita King. She had two sisters, Bettie Jones and Jo Cawley and one brother, Robert King. Patsy attended Eureka School and graduated in 1949. She attended Oklahoma State University and later married Raymond Nichols in Stillwater, Oklahoma on June 5, 1952. They were married for 60 years before Raymond passed in June 2012. Patsy worked at the coffee shop near the campus, the OSU dining services, and was proud of her many years as the Sears Service Manager.
Together, Patsy and Raymond shared many crazy adventures. She followed him to rattle-snake hunts, deer camps, bowling tournaments, fishing trips to Roaring River, and motorcycle enduros. She had an unwavering, nurturing love for her husband.
Patsy was a member of the First Christian Church, her local Home and Community Education chapter, and the Cimarron Valley Quilters group. She enjoyed serving her community and was especially proud of making quilts for veterans. Along with quilting, baking and cooking were a part of Patsy’s love language. She welcomed everyone into her home and made sure they left happy and well fed. Patsy was a loyal OSU fan and was a season ticket holder to many sporting events.
Patsy lived to spend time with her family, which included 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She established many family traditions such as holiday celebrations, OSU homecoming, and the love of playing games together.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert, her husband Raymond, and her son Rick Alan Nichols.
She is survived by her daughter Rae Lynn Ette Maxey and husband Tim; daughter-in-law Kelly Nichols; daughter Nita Gay Nichols and partner Shannon Trimble; and daughter Nikki Lou Hoffman and husband Glenn.
Pallbearers include grandsons Jason Nichols, Tyler Nichols, Todd Maxey, Colin Maxey, Lucas Thompson, Clarance Johnson, and Jacob Linneman.
In honor of Patsy, the family is asking that if you were the recipient of one of Patsy’s quilts, that you please carry it with you during her service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a monetary donation to Strode Funeral Home for a bench to be placed at Roaring River in memory of Patsy and Raymond.
