Obituary for Karldene Marshall Cleveland
Karldene Marshall Cleveland, 82, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday December 10, 2016 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Family will greet friends at Strode Funeral Home on Monday December 12, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Strode Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater, Oklahoma with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Garden. Deacon Steve Rangel will officiate.
Karldene was born October 2, 1934 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Carl Marshall and Gladys (Bobeck) Marshall. She graduated Stillwater High School in 1952 and Oklahoma State University in 1956. Karldene fell in love with and married her junior high school sweetheart, George Cleveland, August 21, 1954. They had 4 children and celebrated 60 years of marriage before his passing. Their life journey took them to many locations throughout Oklahoma and Texas, but Stillwater was always home base for holidays, family gatherings, and Stillwater High School Class of ’52 reunions.
Karldene got her Masters Degree in 1979 from the University of Texas, El Paso, and was promoted to Investment Officer at State Bank, El Paso. She also worked for Texas Municipal Power Agency in the same capacity until moving to DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) in the early 1980’s. She successfully managed the Investment Portfolio for DART as they grew from a Bus Service to a Metropolitan Commuter Service including Light Rail.
Karldene and George retired in 2000 and moved back to Stillwater to live out their lives in the remodeled home of her parents. They were very active in the lives of their children and eleven grandchildren. Together they enjoyed many years of love and celebrations with family and friends.
Karldene is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
She is survived by her brother Gene Marshall (wife Joyce Marshall), children Randy Cleveland, Linda Rangel (husband Steve Rangel), Tom Cleveland (wife Lyndi Cleveland), & Gary Cleveland (wife Shawn Cleveland), her eleven grandchildren Jason Donegan, (wife Jill Donegan), Shawn Donegan (wife Nikki Donegan), Matt Cleveland, Breanna Rangel, Janessa Parra (husband Isachar Parra), Chelsey Jenkins (husband Myles Jenkins), George Cleveland, Karah Cleveland, Meghan Cleveland, Thomas Cleveland and Cody Cleveland, as well as her three great grandchildren Jade Donegan, Ruby Donegan and Elias Parra.
