Beverly Jan Flatt, 64 years old, died in her home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday January 19, 2017. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 2:00pm at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
She was born on November 1, 1952 to William and Wanda Kittredge in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She had the opportunity to see many states during her childhood as her father served in the United States Air Force. She graduated from Mustang High School in 1970. After graduating high school she went on to earn her Associate’s Degree in General Education from Rose State College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Antlers, Oklahoma. Beverly was a very godly woman and even during all her struggles her faith was never shaken. She will be remembered for her faith, strength, and love. She was the rock for her family.
Her love for education continued passed her college days. She was a Secretary at Westwood Elementary in Stillwater, Oklahoma for many years. Although she was not teaching a classroom full of children she often thought she was blessed beyond belief because she was able to help not only the children at the school, but their parents and her co-workers. Her love for helping others showed every single day of her life. Being able to help others always put a smile on her face.
Beverly enjoyed gardening, bird watching, taking pictures and being outdoors. When she wasn’t outdoors she was inside reading or cooking. She was an avid reader and made sure one of the things she did with each of her grandkids was read to them. She loved being with her kids and grandkids whether it was going to watch a ballgame or just spending time together at home. She couldn’t get enough of that time with them. She always wanted to make sure her family had pictures to look back on and remember all the good times together. Beverly always put her family first and continued to do so until the end. Her heart and love knew no boundaries.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Malachi and Grace Mary Kittredge, Bill and Alice Shaw as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her parents William and Wanda Kittredge; one son, Scott Flatt; three daughters, Stacey and husband, Chris Nixon; Andrea and husband, Alvin Hickman; Ashley and husband, Brad Kastl; 10 grandchildren, Chase and Cole Flatt, Shay and Kinley Nixon, Kenna and Gannon Hickman, Hailey, Madison, Kodi, and Kori Kastl; three brothers, Rick and wife, Kathy Kittredge, Randy Kittredge, Shawn and wife, Dana Kittredge; one sister Melanie and husband, Russell Scott.
