Robert James “Bob” Gilmore Sr., 91, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed from this earth to be with his
Savior on January 2, 2017. Strode Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
His memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2017, at Countryside Baptist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Bob will have another memorial service held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Stillwater Bible Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Bob was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 18, 1925 to James H. Gilmore and Velma May Goforth. Bob was married to Mary Lee Jenkins until her death in 2001. He then married Maggie Quinlan in 2011.
After Graduating from Will Rogers High School in 1943, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy where he spent many hours on the submarine tender, USS Fulton until the end of World War II. After Bob returned from the war he enrolled in Tulsa University and earned his Degree in Engineering. He worked for Southwestern Bell in Tulsa. He later became the District Manger of AT&T in Oklahoma City. He retired in 1984.
Bob is predeceased by his parents, his first wife and their son, Robert James Gilmore Jr.; one sister, Carol Nellson.
He is survived by his second wife; one daughter, Fleeta Gayle Hensch ; one Daughter-in-law, Gina Shuttleworth Gilmore; four grandchildren, Daniel Hensch, Laura Hensch, Bette Beven, Garrett Gilmore; one great-granddaughter, Ellis James Beven. Bob is also survived by numerous nieces, nephew and step-family.
