Mary Oleta Elmore
Mary Oleta Elmore, 82, died in her home on July 27, 2017, in Stillwater, OK, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Strode Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel 610 S. Duncan St. Stillwater, OK, with Mr. Scott Heddleston presiding. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Oleta was born on June 8, 1935 in Olney, Texas to Arthur C. Parker and Opal B. (Goldsberry) Parker. She married Vergil D. Elmore on March 7, 1953, in Raton, New Mexico. The couple was married for 64 years.
She was employed at Oklahoma State University for many years, mainly as Manager of Physical Plant Supply and Receiving Department until retirement in 1990. Oleta was a member of the Stillwater Gem and Mineral Society and charter member of Country Road Good Sams RV club. She and her husband enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the U.S. with the Country Road Good Sams. Oleta was always found on the sidelines at all of the academic, sporting or extra-curricular activities for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid youth and OSU wrestling fan and she enjoyed watching the OKC Thunder play.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brother s, Eugene Goldsberry, Johnny Parker and Edward Parker; one sister, Cindy Edmondson.
She is survived by her husband Vergil of the home; one son, Randy Elmore (Sally) of Stillwater, OK; one daughter, Kathy Phillips(Pat) of Stillwater, OK; five grandsons, Brandon Phillips of Stillwater, OK; Ben Elmore(Megan), daughter Sutton and son Weston of Overland Park, KS; Travis Phillips and daughter Hannah of Stillwater, OK; Luke Elmore of Lenexa, KS; Jared Elmore of San Diego, CA; one brother, Ron Parker of Perkins, OK; one sister, Elaine Skillman of Frisco, TX; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brandon Phillips, Ben Elmore, Travis Phillips and Luke Elmore; family friends, Kirk Humble and Josh Bosler of Stillwater, OK; Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Norrie, Floyd Hawk, Frank Eades, Jim Harrison and Charlie Gee.
