Effie Lavon Gazaway, 75, passed away on September 26, 2017 in Tryon, Oklahoma. Her funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 the First Baptist Church in Tryon, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Osage Cemetery in Agra, OK. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Effie was born on June 13, 1942 to Reverend Jack Bates (James) and Blanche Stanley in Stillwater, OK.
She married Clyde Gazaway on August 21, 1957 in Guthrie, OK.
She attended Tryon Schools then later worked for a Wood Cutting Service, Dairy Hand, Lawn Keeper and her greatest job was being a wife and mother.
She was a long time member of the Assembly of God Church. She loved her God & Family and all the people in the world.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers James, Paul, Luke and Marion.
She is survived by her son Clyde Gazaway of Tryon, OK; daughters Lavone & Ralph Grammer of Stroud, OK; Mary & Don Massengale of Perkins, OK; Linda & Scott Henderson of Perry, OK; 8 grandchildren Martie Rhamy, Tosha Powers, Lonnie Poteet, Chance Massengale, Jimmy Poteet, Chris Holle, Lindsay Nelson, Kala Weatherly; 14 great grandchildren Stetson Hall, Preston Poteet, Ashlee Poteet, Wyatt Powers, Peyton Poteet, Hadlee Massengale, Payslee Massengale, Anna Poteet, Jessica Poteet, Kimber Power, Easton Poteet; 2 sisters Betty and Edith.
Pallbearers will be Tony Bates, Brian Bates, Willie Bates, Wyatt Powers, Stetson Hall and Preston Poteet.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Howard Bates and Allen Bates.
