Chandler resident Allen Dale Kersey, 90, passed away Wednesday March 4, 2026 in Stroud, Oklahoma surrounded by family.
The family will conduct a memorial service at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the Chandler Senior Citizens Building (1121 OK-18, Chandler, Oklahoma 74834). Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Allen Dale Kersey was born on August 9, 1935 in Edmond, Oklahoma to Alvoy Chester Kersey and Ruth Imogene Kersey. Allen married the love of his life, Ellen (Fowble) on August 4, 1951 and together they shared 69 wonderful years of marriage.
Allen proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years and was a Vietnam Veteran Corpsman. After leaving the Navy, Allen worked as a Deputy Coroner in San Diego, California for several years. In 1977, the family moved to Tryon, OK, which remains the family homestead today. He later went to work for Mercury MerCruiser where he worked for 20 years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, O'Brita, a brother, Jim, and a son-in-lawm Michael Reed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ellen Kersey, his son Brad Kersey and wife Virginia, daughters, Sandra Reed and Serenna Hatfield and her husband Eric, a niece, Denice Godwin and husband Greg, three sisters, Alva, Glenna, and Lutie. Allen was blessed with six grandchildren, Joseph Reed and wife Cressy, Paul Reed and wife Kara, Casey Lambert, Jon Kersey and wife Melody, April Cole and husband Rusty, and Jessica Kersey. He was also the proud great-grandfather of fifteen great-grandchildren, Brianna Reed, Tyler Reed, Dane Reed, Evan Reed, Sarah Kersey, Luke Kersey, Benjamin Kersey, Nicolas Kersey, Chester Lambert, Erica Barkhimer, Haylie Arivett, Gabby Gonzales, Shaun Culwell, Nathan Cole, Cyle Giddens, Jadyn Atchley, Trinity Mullin, Layla Mullin and Kensie Carter. Additionally, Allen had twelve great-great-grandchildren.
Allen will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the life he built for those he loved. His legacy lives on through the many generations of family who were blessed to call him husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
