Obituary

Amanda Dianne McComas, age 43, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from complications following open heart surgery. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2024 at Stillwater Church of Christ. A graveside service will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Amanda was born on July 26, 1981, at Grady County Memorial Hospital in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to proud parents Mike and Jackie McComas. As the youngest of three siblings, Amanda "hit the ground running," determined to keep up and being the cause of many grey hairs to all who loved her. Amanda made her own way through life and lived by her own rules. Determined, stubborn and loyal, Amanda made a lasting positive impact on this world, which is evident in her career as Department of Human Services Field Manager, through her many, many friends who loved her dearly, and most importantly her beloved children and family.

Amanda leaves behind a legacy in her beautiful and talented children, JJ and Amara, who she loved with everything she had. Gone too early and before so many that loved her, including her proud parents, Mike and Jackie McComas, her supportive sister Krista McComas Graff, loving brother-in-law and nephews Wes, Dominic and Kristian, as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, and countless loyal friends who loved her like family. Amanda was a lifelong athlete, a talented cook, an excellent dancer, and kept a spotless house. We know her brother Ryan and her Grandparents Jack and Maye Deason, and Pat and Mary Jo McComas met her at the Pearly Gates to tell her how proud they have been of her all these years.

Amanda excelled in whatever she put her mind to. She flourished in many areas in grade school and at Anadarko High School including yearbook editor, an honor society member, and a letterman. She graduated with honors from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology. While at OSU, she served as President of the Mat Maids organization and was recognized by Ann Halligan with the Woman's Initiative Program Award.

An accomplished tennis player and a lover of all sports, Amanda took pride and joy in watching her children compete and flourish in their athletic endeavors. As a lifelong, loyal and true OSU wrestling fan, she knew what it felt like to celebrate victory. And as a lifelong, loyal and true OSU football fan, she knew how to accept defeat with great grace and humility. Win or lose; Amanda would ALWAYS love her Cowboys.

Amanda protected her people fiercely. She loved big, cheered hard, and always supported. Non-judgmental and seeing the positives and potential of all those she cared for, she is a piece that fit so perfectly into all our lives and we will all miss that piece forever. Her faith was assured, and may we all take solace knowing that she is now in the kingdom of heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Amanda's honor to the American Heart Association, or funds can be placed in a scholarship fund for JJ and Amara McComas at MidFirst Bank of Stillwater, c/o Jacqulyn McComas.
