Betty Jean Campbell passed away April 6, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on December 22, 1926 to James and Ethel Ridings in Tryon, Oklahoma, and raised on a farm along with her sister, Dorothy (Ridings) Bryan, Betty Jean embodied the life of a Christ follower as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She graduated from Oklahoma A and M College in 1949 with a degree in Music and became known in the Stillwater community as an accomplished musician instructing many piano students and being the organist at First Baptist Church for over 30 years.
As a devoted wife, she and Harold Campbell were married on August 10, 1947. They had a very loving and devoted relationship that lasted for 77 years.
Betty Jean is survived by her husband Harold; son Jim Campbell and his wife Beverly, their children Bryce, his children Duke and Sophia. Son Scott and his wife Camey and their children Callie, Cole, Cyah and Case. Son Todd and his wife Autumn and their children Peyton, Callen and Kendrie. Daughter Lynnette (Campbell) Chapman and her husband Dr. David Chapman live in Norman, Oklahoma. Their sons are Josh and his wife Hannah, their children Jentezen and Jax and Taylor and his wife Adrianne and their children Abigail and Matthew.
Betty Jean was strong in her Christian faith and was always concerned for those who did not know Jesus as their savior. She received the Lord as a child and lived an exemplary Godly life guiding her family by example.
She and Harold spent dozens of summers at their home in Red River, New Mexico where Betty played the piano or organ every Sunday morning at the Red River Community House. Harold led the music for the Sunday morning services. They built a chapel on their property for people to come to pray and worship the Lord. Their guest book has hundreds of names from all over the world. Betty Jean was loved and respected by her friends and family. Her presence in each of their lives will be greatly missed!
There will be a graveside service for Betty Jean on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. David Chapman officiating at 2:00 p.m.
