Betty Jo Stanton (Mailes), age 95, died Saturday, March 15, 2025. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Southside Baptist Church in Stillwater. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Jo was born to Mable L. Brodrick on July 11, 1929, in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. She was raised by her mother and her stepfather Howard Crow. She married Alfred Leroy Stanton on July 11, 1949, in Chandler, Oklahoma. This marriage ended with his death on December 30, 1991.

Betty Jo was a homemaker who would care for her children by gardening, canning food, and sewing. After raising her children, she entered the workforce in food services at Oklahoma State University.

Her hobbies include collecting Avon perfume bottles, stamps, watching westerns of all types, she loved to sing but her favorite pastime was playing bingo.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leroy and son Michael.

She is survived by her children, Alfred Eugene Stanton, Gary Leroy Stanton, Debra Ilene Cearley and Phyllis Ann Neitman. She had eleven grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
