Caryl Sue Albin Jobe, age 92, of Stillwater, died Thursday, April 16, 2026. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at the Stillwater First Christian Church.
Caryl was born April 27, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois. She spent her early years in the dust bowl of the Texas panhandle. After elementary school the family moved to Oklahoma. Growing up in Tulsa, Caryl participated in synchronized swimming and choir where she developed her love and appreciation for music.
Caryl's college years began in Stephens College in Missouri where she earned an associates degree, then on to the University of Tulsa where Caryl joined Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She has been an active member and alum for over 70 years.
In 1953 Caryl was named the TU basketball queen. During her reign she met TU basketballer John Jobe. Their 64-year marriage began in August of 1954.
Caryl and John raised their five children in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In addition to all of her "mama activities" Caryl spent over 20 years as an award-winning 5th grade teacher at Westwood School. A Caryl quote: "teaching is always learning."
Her community service went beyond her teaching. She was a 15-gallon blood donor. As an avid knitter, Caryl has provided the Stillwater Medical Center with custom baby caps for lucky newborns. Recently she was recognized by the hospital for over 4,000 hours of community service.
For all of her years in Stillwater Caryl has been an active member of the First Christian Church as a parishioner, Sunday School member, and as a Church Elder.
In retirement ,Caryl and John enjoyed time spent on the White River near Mountain View, Arkansas and at their cabin in Pitkin, Colorado, but most importantly meeting and getting to know the "newest grandchild."
After John passed in 2019 Caryl continued with her gardening, knitting, church, swimming and Theta alum activities, but was primarily involved in spending time with her five children and their families, her 10 grandchildren, and 14 great- grandchildren! They are all so grateful for that time spent. She will be forever missed.
