It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Gary Foreman, who left us on December 6, 2024, at the age of 91. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 in the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.
Charles was born in Oklahoma City to Chester G. Foreman and Beatrice Redman, Charles led a life rich with achievement, adventure, and love. He graduated from Classen High School in 1952, where he lettered in both football and track, and earned recognition as the 9th grade King at Taft Junior High. His athleticism continued at Oklahoma State University, where he ran track and proudly contributed to setting a world record in the sprint medley at the University of Texas. He graduated in 1956 with a business degree, a member of both the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and ROTC.
In December 1954, Charles married his high school sweetheart, Mary Carol Jordan, and together they shared 70 years of love and adventure. Upon graduating from OSU, Charles joined the Air Force, where he served as an electrical engineer and later retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. His time in the Air Force took him to remarkable places, including Casa Blanca, and laid the foundation for a career that would continue in Civil Service at Tinker Air Force Base in communications.
Charles and Mary Carol's love for travel led them to explore the world, but their passion for Oklahoma State University and its community brought them back to Stillwater in 1997. As loyal fans of OSU, they became season ticket holders for over 50 years, and Charles was a beloved House Dad for the SAE fraternity. He loved all aspects of campus life and enjoyed attending games and events, sharing in the vibrant spirit of OSU.
Throughout his life, Charles was deeply involved in civic and community organizations. He served as the President of the Stillwater Lions Club, was an active member of the Rotary Club, and was dedicated to his faith as a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Edmond and later St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Stillwater, where he served as a greeter. His enthusiasm for life extended to hobbies such as golf, snow and water skiing, travel, and bridge. He was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed the thrill of a good bargain.
Charles cherished the friendships he made over morning coffee at Aspen Coffee Shop, where he could often be found chatting with friends. His laughter, wit, and warmth will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Carol Foreman; daughter Deborah Hudson, son Craig Foreman (Jenny); and his cherished grandchildren, Sanya Hudson-McFie (Steve), Irisa Hudson, Karl Hudson, Christopher Foreman (Liz), Courtney Foreman, Cody Foreman (Bailey), and Jonathan Cooper Foreman (Nicole). He also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply.
Charles's legacy of service, love for his family, and passion for life will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
