Stillwater resident Charles Theodore Ramming, 84, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. March 30, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Charles was born March 30, 1941 in Miami, Oklahoma to Clarence Ramming and Adaline (Graf) Ramming. In 1945 the family moved to Oklahoma City for a few years before moving to Lahoma, Oklahoma in 1947. Charles graduated from Lahoma High School in 1959. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1963 with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and earned his Master's degree in Chemistry in 1965. Charles taught Chemistry and Physics in Liberty, Missouri for one year. He married Wilma (Trompler) on June 3, 1966 in Stillwater, Oklahoma Charles and Wilma lived in Stillwater but Charles commuted to Sand Springs, Oklahoma where he taught Chemistry and Physics at Charles Page High School. After Wilma graduated from Oklahoma State University, they moved to Sand Springs. In 1973 he went to work for Ozark Mahoning in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There he analyzed fluoride samples determining if they met specific standards for toothpaste.
In 1976 the family returned to Stillwater but Charles continued to commute to Tulsa until 1977. During the 1977-1978 school year, Charles as the Vice Principal and Chemistry teacher for Glencoe High School.
The following year he was hired by Mercury Marine as a lab technician. He worked for Mercury for 26 years before retiring in 2004.
After retiring, he joined the Stillwater Mineral and Gem Society. Charles and Wilma enjoyed rock hunting and going to Quartzite, Arizona with other club members. He enjoyed cutting and polishing stones and gems.
Charles attended First United Methodist Church where he was involved with delivering food sacks for kids. Later he volunteered with Elite Repeat.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister in law, Margaret Ramming.
Survivors include his wife Wilma of the home, 4 children, Michael Scott Ramming of Denver, CO, Deborah Worley and husband David of Gahanna, OH, Jeffrey Brian Ramming and wife Stephanie of Springdale, AR, and Cheri Baker and husband Brian of Erie, CO, grandchildren, Hannah and Mason, Grayson and Dalton, Kaylee and Ethan, 2 brothers, Frank Ramming, and David Ramming and wife Helen, a sister, Dorothy Constien and husband Vernon.
