Faye Claudine (Harbison) Filtz was born April 19,1930 in Anthony Kansas to Lee and Evelyn (Peachie) Harbison and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on June 9, 2025 at the age of 95. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2025 at the First Christian Church in Orlando, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Marshall South Cemetery in Marshall. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Her parents divorced when she was young, and she was raised by her grandparents Sam and Emma Armstrong. Claudine (she didn't like the name of Faye) grew up in Anthony and attended school there. On a trip to visit her aunt and uncle in Orlando, Oklahoma she met a boy who would later become the love of her life, and she and Harlan Filtz were married June 28, 1947, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
From this marriage there were four children, Harlan Dean, Judy Lynn, Robert Lee, and Marcia Dee. Claudine was a housewife and stay at home mom until the kids got older and were in school. She then worked as a waitress at Angler's Inn Cafe on highway 51 near Lake Carl Blackwell and later managed the university laundry in married student housing at OSU, where she retired in 1992.
After retiring, she and Harlan spent time traveling, going on trail rides with their Tennessee Walkers, and square dancing. Somewhere along the way she started collecting squirrels, and to this day she has well over 2500 from all over the world. Claudine also loved spending time with her family and friends and having big family dinners. Those who knew how great of a cook she was, will certainly miss her German chocolate cake, coconut cream pie, and as the grandkids say, "those mashed potatoes". It was always hard to visit her house without her trying to feed you.
Claudine was a woman with a strong will, a great faith and a servant's heart. Lots of friends and family will miss the many cards she sent for birthdays, sympathy, graduations, and encouragement. Up until the time of her death, she still attended the church she was baptized in back in 1947. And, says that her faith in Jesus is what got her through the loss of her husband Harlan, and three kids, Harlan Dean, Judy Lynn, and Marcia Dee.
Claudine is preceded in death by both parents, granddaughter Lori Barnicoat, and great granddaughter Nicki Moss, as well as her sister Maxine and brother J.D.
She is survived by her son Robert Filtz and Linda of Perry; grandsons, Louis Karns and Tennille of Orlando, Rebel Smith and Dee of Newcastle, Sky Smith of Moore, Jason Filtz and Kelly of Ponca City, Drew Filtz and Sarah of Perkins, and Scott Wooden and Angie of Ocala, Florida; granddaughters Jamie Graef and Travis of Orlando, and Stephanie Roelofs of Oklahoma City; Eighteen great grandkids, twelve great-great grandkids, a brother-in-law Norman Filtz and Jan of Stillwater; sister-in-law Norma Jerome and Lyle of Stillwater; and a special friend Evelyn Smith as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Debbie James, Debbie Wise, and great granddaughter Raegan for the care and comfort they have provided for the past few years, as well as Dr. John Williams, Dr. Jeffery Miller, and the doctors and nurses at Stillwater Medical Center, the doctors and nurses from third floor, C and D at Mercy Hospital in OKC, and great grandson Mason for the comfort he provided by never leaving her side in her final days.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests donations be made in Claudine's name to the First Christian Church in Orlando or to a charity of the donors choosing in her honor.
