Curtis Leroy Owens, 81, passed away at his home on May 21, 2026 surrounded by his children. Friends may view at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2026 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel.
Curtis was born November 8, 1944, to Raymond Leroy and Alta Lou Owens in Payne County. He had one sister, Mary, and one brother, Bill. He graduated from Perkins High School in 1963 after enlisting in the Navy on October 8, 1962. He served two terms and received an honorable discharge on October 7, 1968. He married Margaret Marie Hardnack, and they had three children together: Lisa, Travis, and Matt.
Throughout life, Curtis enjoyed motorcycles, squirrel hunting, and fishing. He was active in Perkins Old Settler's Day and would reenact gun fights in the parade while dressed in period cowboy clothing. He was also active in the local VFW during this time. As he got older, you could find him at home drinking coffee and watching Gun Smoke.
Curtis is preceded in death by his brother Bill Owens, son Travis Owens, and sister Mary.
He is survived by his daughter Lisa Sweeney; son Matt Owens and his wife Crystal; grandchildren Erica, Tony, Brittany, Hayden, and Piper; and great-grandchildren, Blayden, Stryker, Ryker, Paige and Abel Justice. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Judy Brandon Owens.
