Obituary

Daryl Vance Haak passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1402 E. 6th Avenue, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater.

Daryl was born on August 29, 1962, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Lloyd and Glennis Haak. He was a lifelong resident of Stillwater, where he attended Stillwater Public Schools and graduated in 1983. Following graduation, Daryl began working for OSU Dining Services, where he remained employed until October 2020. During the holiday season, he also worked at MPower and transitioned to a full-time position there in 2020.

Daryl became a resident of Stillwater Group Homes in 2008, where he built lasting friendships that became like family. He enjoyed competing as a Special Olympics athlete and looked forward to every opportunity to participate. Daryl loved celebrating holidays with his housemates and friends, attending Oklahoma State University sporting events, watching WWE live, and relaxing at home while watching classic westerns. He was an active participant in the OSU Best Buddies program and never passed up an opportunity to enjoy chocolate. One of his favorite events each year was Night to Shine, where he always enjoyed dressing up and looking his very best. Above all, Daryl cherished any gathering that brought together family and friends.

Although Daryl was an only child, he was surrounded by an incredible community of love and support through relatives, Stillwater Group Homes, Jeff and Susie Sinderson, and his coworkers at MPower, his church family, and countless friends. He was a longtime member of The Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where he faithfully served God through his kindness, compassion, and genuine devotion to others.

Daryl is survived by several cousins and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Because Special Olympics brought Daryl so much joy throughout his life, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Special Olympics Oklahoma, 6835 S. Canton Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74136. Please note "In Memory of Daryl Haak" on the check.
