Obituary

David Lee Lunsford, 28, died April 26, 2026. A memorial service to celebrate David's life will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2026 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

David was born on September 16, 1997, to Tony and Carolyn Lunsford in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Mehan community alongside his three brothers: Rodney, Ben, and Mark. From fourth grade through his graduation from Ripley Public Schools in 2016, David was an active athlete, musician, and dedicated student. Many teachers and staff played a meaningful role in his life, especially Kent Taylor, who nurtured his creative spirit and lifelong love of music.

Though naturally reserved, David formed deep and lasting friendships with Michael Beaman, Austin Templin, Hunter Foran, and Amber Dotter, relationships he cherished throughout his life.

Never one to shy away from hard work, David began his career in HVAC as an apprentice with B&L Heat and Air and later earned his Journeyman license while working for Dense Mechanical. He was loyal and resolute, some might say stubborn, but always willing to lend a helping hand. He was known for his frugality, his preference for cash, and his practical approach to life.

David was an avid skateboarder and musician who loved spending time with family and friends, often gathered around card and board games. On Thursday nights, he could often be found at Stonecloud, enjoying a drink or two with friends. A true gaming enthusiast, he built an impressive collection of both new and vintage games and music.

An old soul at heart, David hadn't cut his hair since he was 16 and believed in getting the most out of everything he owned, especially his socks. Affectionately known as "Bud," he lived a full life in his 28 years and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. As he so often said, "See ya."

Donations in David's honor can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), ATTN: Data Entry, 199 Water Street, 11th Floor, New York, NY. 10038.
