Obituary

Dennis Ronald Nichols was born on August 10th, 1948 to Robert and Ione Nichols in Anadarko, OK. After graduating high school, Dennis moved to Stillwater, OK where he attended Oklahoma State University and earned a bachelor's degree in business. Upon graduation, he proudly served in the Army Reserves as a drill sergeant.


In 1971, Dennis opened his first convenience store, Git 'n Galup. He continued to expand his successful business over the next 50 years. He became a prominent figure in his community, serving as president of the Stillwater Country Club and the Stillwater Jaycees. Dennis, nicknamed Nickel Man, was an avid golfer and enjoyed worshiping at Life Church. Anyone who knew him saw his kind disposition, heart of gold and passion for others.


Dennis and Kim Washburn had two beautiful children, Dusty and Tessa. Dennis' children were his pride and joy. In 2003, Dennis married Pam McCully and they spent 20 wonderful years together.


He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Nichols; his mother, Ione Nichols; and his brother-in-law, Lowell Schneberger.


Dennis is survived by his wife, Pam Nichols; sister, Linda Schneberger; son, Dusty Nichols; daughter and son-in-law, Tessa and Buddy Jackson; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Bruce Wright; stepson and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Leigh Ann Downing; grandchildren, Jayden Nichols, Brinley and Elizabeth Jackson, Finley and Nash Wright, and Leo and Corinne Downing; and many other friends and extended family who loved him dearly.


Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at Sunnybrook Christian Church followed by a burial at Fairlawn Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be at Stillwater Country Club at 4:00 p.m.
