The passing of Derek Clinton Weeks of Stillwater, Oklahoma on Christmas Day 2025, leaves a giant void in our lives and hearts that only he could fill. There will be a memorial gathering at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, on his property at 300 N. Redlands Road, Stillwater, Oklahoma. We will post a sign by his gate so it's easy to find.
Derek is survived by his mother Shirley, siblings Robert, Steven and Jennifer, his beloved dog Ringo as well as nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He also leaves behind many friends he gathered over his 61 years of life. Derek passed away peacefully in his home on the acreage once owned by our parents. It was his place of solace, joy and pride. He loved living among the trees, raising bees and feeding the deer, and watching the beautiful Oklahoma sky from his front porch.
Derek was a smart, funny, creative, entertaining and handsome man. He took great care of those he loved - ready with a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen or words to encourage. And sometimes, a big serving of honesty and truth. He was deeply devoted to our parents, Shirley and David who he loved more than anyone on earth.
He was born and raised in Stillwater, Oklahoma but also lived in Ithaca, New York, Las Cruces, New Mexico, Santa Monica, California and Dallas, Texas. He spent many summers in Fort Walton Beach, Florida enjoying the sun, white sand and clear blue gulf waters with our family.
Derek loved cooking, watching sports, listening to music, making bonfires under the stars, walking his land with his best friend Ringo, and hanging out with friends and family laughing, joking, drinking beer, and solving the world's problems.
We are heartbroken because we miss him deeply, but we are grateful for the years we shared with him. As our dad would always say, "He was unique."
We welcome all who want to gather with others who loved Derek to celebrate his life, share favorite stories and memories, and bid his soul a beautiful farewell. Casual dress is expected.
In lieu of customary remembrances, please donate to the Redwood Park Conservancy in memory of Derek @ redwoodparksconservancy.org or plant a tree in his honor from the Strode website. Please share your memories here for all to enjoy.
