Obituary

Dickey Dean Lore, 88, passed away July 5, 2024, in Perkins, Oklahoma. He was born November 10, 1935 to Herbert and Juanita Lore in Perkins, Oklahoma. A memorial service honoring Dickey's life will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

After graduating from Stillwater High School, Dickey honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC and served as a machine gunner. During his enlistment, he served overseas in Beirut during the 1958 Lebanon Crisis. His time in the USMC was marked by dedication and resilience, traits that he carried throughout his life.

Dickey later joined the family business as a barber, a role in which he was well-known and respected in the community. He later worked at MerCruiser, where he continued to apply his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Beyond his professional life, Dickey was actively involved in community service. He was a member of the Jaycees and volunteered with many youth sports leagues, sharing his passion and spirit with the younger generations. Dickey also enjoyed playing golf and dominos, pastimes through which he formed many lasting friendships.

He is survived by his wife, Earline; daughters Terry and Tammy; sons Brian, Clint and wife Dawn, and Matt and wife Kasey; four grandchildren (Rose, Jake and wife Emily, Carter, and Barrett); and five great-grandchildren (Devon, Dylan, Kole, Kash, and Kruz). Dickey was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Naudain, and his granddaughter Brandi.

Those that knew him will miss his ornery and playful nature. Dickey will be remembered for how deeply he cared for those around him, his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his commitment to his community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Dean McGee Eye Institute Foundation.
