Obituary

Dollie Modlin, 77, began her journey on January 18, 2024. Funeral Services will begin 12:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma Community Building in Perkins, with Pastor Chance Lee Rush presiding. Burial will follow in the Iowa Tribe Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Dollie was born to Frank and Elvina McClellan on November 30, 1946 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Dollie attended high school in Ocala, Florida. She married Marvin Modlin, Jr. in November 1966 in Ocala, Florida.

After moving back to Oklahoma, she got her degree in accounting and worked for the Pawnee and Sac & Fox Nation. Later she began her career in gaming, working for the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma as Bingo Manager, Surveillance Director and Executive Director of the Gaming Commission. She was once named employee of the month in Indian Gaming magazine.

She was a member of the Southwest Baptist Church and the Native American Church. Dollie loved sewing, traveling, taking care of her grandchildren, and going to pow-wows. She was honored to serve as Pow-Wow Chairman for many years as well as Iowa Tribal Director of American Indian Exposition.

Dollie was preceded in death by both parents; her brothers, Thomas, Robert, Billy, Benny, and Russell Kim as well as her sister Judy Fern.

Her daughters, Christie Modlin and Frankie Howell survive her. Other survivors are her grandchildren, Pamela Bolt, Jessica Lookout Schulze and Christian Howell; great-grandchildren, Alexia Adame, Morgan Bolt, Katarina Schulze and Samuel Schulze; her brothers Frank McClellan, Jr. and Henry McClellan, Sr. and her sister Pamela McClellan.

Pallbearers will be Christian Howell, Morgan Bolt, Billy McClellan, Jr., Jeff McClellan, Ethan Schulze and Billy Lee McClellan.

The family would like to thank Dr. Benjamin Chou, DO. The OU Medical Staff and the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma.
