Dolores Myrlena Tarlton, 91, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, April 24, 2026. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2026 at the First Baptist Church of Tryon. Interment will follow in the Tryon Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Dolores was born August 5, 1934 to Floyd and Nellie Anderson in Agra, Oklahoma. She married Charles "Howard" Tarlton on June 7, 1952. They were lifelong partners and friends who were blessed with five children: Jean, Pat, Charles, Keith, and Boyd.
Dolores was a proud homemaker who loved children and operated an in-home daycare for many years. She was a founding member of the First Baptist Church of Tryon Women's Quilting Club, where she helped make hundreds of quilts for cancer centers, hospital nurseries, and Stillwater Life Services. Dolores lived her life as a devoted follower of Christ and a faithful member of the Baptist church.
Dolores is preceded in death by her husband, Howard; daughter, Jean; brothers, Don Rall, Raymond Rall, and Jerry Anderson; and sister, Janell Crews.
Dolores is survived by her children Pat Tarlton; Charles and wife Denise Tarlton; Keith and wife Pam Tarlton; and Boyd and his wife Carol Tarlton; fourteen grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
