Donald Ray Dunham, 76, of Stillwater, Oklahoma peacefully passed on Sunday, May 12, 2024. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. May 24, 2024 at the First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Donald was born April 19, 1948 to Willes and Eunice Joan (Roberts) Dunham in Oklahoma City. He moved to Stillwater March 12, 2002 and joined the Gatesway group. Donald retired from his vocational program with MPower Inc. in 2012 and in 2014 he became a member of the residential family.
Donald had many joys in life, some of which included the comforting feeling of a warm and fuzzy blanket, the sweet taste of Tennessee chewing tobacco, going for rides in the pick-up, and visits from his ornery friend Carl. To know Donald is to know resilience and the goodness of God.
Through the years, Donald used his abilities to teach others to be patient, loving, and kind to one another. For as much as others may have taught Donald, he taught us all so much more. No matter the greatness of life's many adversities, Donald persevered and showed the world his strength and God's will. Even now, in his child-like faith, he too has overcome death and will reside for eternity in the kingdom of heaven, free from his limitations and made new again.
Donald was loved and cared for by countless individuals throughout his life. His presence will be greatly missed, but the memories of him will continue to bring joy each and every day. Knowing him and knowing his heart was a privilege and a blessing.
Donald is survived by his longtime roommate James Derick Sherman and his friends and caregivers of MPower Inc.
