Doris A. Morgan Smalley, of Shawnee was born in Chandler, Oklahoma to Talmadge and Avis Davenport on August 31, 1937. Her faith became sight in the early morning hours on November 16th, 2024.
A memorial service will be held at Adyelotte Baptist Church in Shawnee on Thursday, November 21st at 10:30 a.m. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coyle, Oklahoma.
Doris graduated from Shawnee Highschool in 1955. Later that year she married Robert Morgan. During their 27 years of marriage they had three children. Throughout those years, Doris cared for and was very involved with her children and school activities, 4-H projects and many, many basketball and baseball games which she rarely missed. She also worked fulltime at Famers Home Administration as a secretary. After her children were grown, she was promoted to auditor and from there she moved to Arlington, Virgina and took a position in Washington D.C. for the Department of Agriculture as an analyst.
She was married to Keith Smalley in Virgina on May, 1st, 1992. They both continued to work in Washington D.C. until their retirement several years later. Upon retirement they moved back to Shawnee and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, visiting every state except Alaska. Doris also cared for her elderly parents and loved spending time with her five grandchildren, family, and friends.
Doris and Keith were long time supporters of the Republican party through their local county affiliate. She also served as Precinct Inspector for the Pott Co. Election Board.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Keith Smalley. She is survived by her sister, Janis Woodruff of Shawnee; her two sons; Charles Morgan with his wife Vicki of Newalla; John Morgan and his wife Anita of Prague; and her daughter; Marianne Long with her husband Mike of Shawnee. Her grandchildren: Matt and Vanessa Long of Norman; Mason and Jessica Long of Arcadia; Jennifer and Jessee VanHuss of Edmond; T.J. and Sydney Morgan of Shawnee and Aubrey and Roy Bruno also of Shawnee.
Her blessings continued with nine great-grandchildren with the tenth arriving this coming February. Upon her second marriage she enjoyed the addition of six step-children and Dr. Tim Smalley, her brother-in-law.
Doris will be dearly missed, but with repentance to God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ we will dwell with her in the house of the LORD forever and ever.
She requested in lieu of flowers to give to a charity of the giver's choice or to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association.
