Obituary

Dorislea died March 16, 2024 at Westhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorislea was born Dorislea Fowler on November 22, 1935, to Lee L. Fowler and Doris Nadine Payne, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Dorislea graduated from Stillwater High School in 1954. She married Elvin Eugene Powers of Stillwater on December 23, 1956. This union produced five children: Van Theron Powers, Michael Lee Powers, Glenn Lewis Powers (died in infancy), Cheryl Marie Powers Moody and Sherrain Imogene Powers Steele. Elvin died of cancer on October 11, 1965. Dorislea married Charles Anthony Kekahbah on August 28, 1968 in Nowata, Oklahoma. Charles Walter Kekahbah and Charlene Nanette Hanson, twins, were born on November 8, 1968. Dorislea divorced Charles in 1983. Charles Anthony Kekahbah died on January 10, 1995.

Dorislea was a lifelong member of the Stillwater First Christian Church and for many years a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from Mercury Marine in 1999. She was also a member of the Cottonwood Community Center where she contributed to the making of many quilts, sweaters and Sunday potluck dinners. At home she loved her nighttime soaps, Dallas and Knotts Landing and often had a jigsaw puzzle in progress.

Dorislea was preceded in death by her first husband, Elvin, her second husband, Charles Anthony the infant child Glenn, her brother Gary Fowler, both of her parents and her granddaughter Danielle Powers.

She is survived by her brother, Steven Fowler of Edmond. Her son Van and wife Maria Powers. Her son Michael Powers and grandson Shiloh Powers and greatgrandchildren Mylah Powers, Liam Powers and Benjamin Powers. Her daughter Cheryl and husband Jeffrey Moody. Her grandson Derek and wife Amanda Moody and great grandchildren Parker and Dayne Moody. Her grandson Bryce Moody. Her grandson Jared Moody. Her daughter Sherrain and her husband Darran Steele. Her grandson Robert and wife Amanda Page and greatgrandaughter Bailey Lawson. Her granddaughter Jennifer Page Moore and great grandchildren Kailer Page, Kelton Moore and Kambryn Moore. Her son Charles and Monika Kekahbah and greatgrandson Braden Kekahbah. Her daughter Charlene and her husband Eric Hanson and grandchildren Taylor Hanson and Amber Hanson. From her deceased granddaughter Danielle Powers, she is survived by greatgrandchildren Ava Wilson and Faith-Anne Powers.

Pallbearers: Van Powers, Michael Powers, Charles Kekahbah, Jeff Moody, Erik Hanson, Darran Steele, Robert Page, Derek Moody.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bryce Moody, Jerad Moody, Braden Kekahbah, Taylor Hanson, Kailer Page.

The family would like to thank the caring employees of Brookdale Senior Living Center who cared for Dorislea from 2021 until the end of February 2024. The family also thanks Westhaven Nursing Home for their care of her in March and her final care. We are also grateful to Traditions Hospice.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests donations be made to the First Christian Church of Stillwater, or to a charity benefiting Alzheimer's Dementia.
