Elnora Josephine (Linzy) Sanders, formerly of Stillwater, Oklahoma, beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend died on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Funeral services are pending with Strode Funeral Home and Cremation.
Elnora was born in Stillwater on September 17, 1939, to Willie and Birdie (Vick) Linzy. She attended Washington School. She married Ikey Sanders on February 4, 1959 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. They later divorced and remarried on January 10, 2001.
For many years she was a long-time member of Lawson Temple Church of God in Christ under the late Bishop Fred D. Lawson, Jr., then under Elder Miran Johnson. She eventually transferred her membership to Miracle Church of God in Christ under the late Elder Anthony Grayson, and then the leadership of Elder Stacey Norwood.
Although she had been baptized in her younger years, she felt the need in her older years to be baptized again by Rev. Calvin Miller, Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Stillwater.
Elnora held various jobs during her lifetime: Stillwater Head Start as a teacher, owner/operator of Cowboy Laundry with her husband Ikey Sanders, Student Union parking attendant at Oklahoma State University, Busy Bee Daycare, Denver, Colorado, private duty caregiver for Ms. Jacqueline Lewis Adair, and Stillwater High School custodial crew.
Elnora is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Son Scott Sanders, step-son Ricky Sanders; brothers Harvey Dean Linzy & wife Bernice of Petersburg, VA, Abraham Lincoln Linzy, Sr., Elsworth Alexander Linzy, Joseph John Linzy, Luther Tucker Linzy, Chester Field Linzy, Sr., George (Son) Wesley Linzy and John Elley Linzy; sisters Mittie Mondora Carter, Christine Fernita Green & husband Lloyd, Helen Jean Rivers and husband Benny, Willie Ann Pradia & husband Abel Joe.
She is survived by her daughter Cherry Brown (who passed away two days after Elnora), sons Sullivan True Sanders and Tony Linzy; grandchildren Talmadge Brown and Icey Brown; great grandchildren Shaydren Dwayne Green and Tamia Nicole Langner, and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests donations be made to Strode Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
