Obituary

Erma J. Anderson, 89, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025. Funeral services will begin 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2025, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Stillwater, with Reverend Calvin Miller officiating. A Graveside service will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Erma was born on May 22, 1936, in Drumright, Oklahoma, to Emory Isacc Brown and Vera Mae Hillard. She was united in marriage to Paul Anderson on June 5, 1956, a loving union that endured through the years and was blessed with family, faith, and friendship. Together they raised their daughter, Delisa Reyna Stearne, born November 27, 1964, who brought great joy and pride into their lives.

Erma attended Washington High School and later attended Indian Meridian Vo-Tech. Her dedication and strong work ethic led her to a long and meaningful career at Oklahoma State University. She began her career working in the New Hall Cafeteria, later serving as a maid for the university. Through her perseverance and commitment, Erma advanced to become a secretary in the OSU Department of Public Information, first in the Classroom Building basement and later in the Public Information Building located in the old hospital building. She continued her service in the International Trade Development Department and ultimately retired from OSU's Communication Services. Her professionalism and kindness touched the lives of many colleagues and students throughout her years of service.

A faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Stillwater, Erma was active in church life and community fellowship. She found joy in traveling, sewing, and reading, and her love for exploration took her to five different countries, including Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas, Mexico (Puerto Peñasco, twice), and Canada.

Erma's legacy is one of faith, love, and perseverance. Surrounded throughout her life by the love of her community, family, and host of dear relatives and friends. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
