Esther Frances Heller was born September 9th, 1959 in Seattle, Washington. A memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel. She moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in the early 80's where she met her husband Scott Heller at Frontier lanes, the local bowling alley here in Stillwater. Together, Scott and Esther raised their two sons Eric and Jeremy Heller, and also served as second parents to their niece Crystal and granddaughter Kayda. Jeremy recalls a childhood deeply shaped by her love, and full of her favorite CDs on repeat, as well as an occasional evil eye to keep him in line. Eric went on to give her two of her most treasured gifts, Beckli and Zuri. Esther also maintained a very close relationship with her mother Rosemary Hames, and never missed their daily call.
To know Esther was to love her. We will remember Esther for her quick wit, her giving nature, and her deep love for the people and animals in her life. We will also remember Esther for her orneriness and stubornness (and if you saw this side of her, you can trust that she loved you too).
Esther also remembered everything. She never missed a birthday or holiday text. This memory is also part of what made her an amazing storyteller. She could deliver a punchline, or tell you the layout of a restaurant from 15 years ago and take you right back to a memory you'd forgotten
Esther's life was not an easy one, but she lived through every trial with an open heart.
We hope that the next step of her journey reunites her with her father Eugene and her late brother Steven. We will all miss Esther's love and onery character, but we know that she is now at peace and looking down on us with her beautiful smile.
Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
