Evette Marie Hamilton, 81, of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away after a long battle with Frontotemporal dementia on January 5, 2026, in Stillwater, OK. A fiercely independent spirit and a pillar of her community, Evette spent her life building businesses, fostering local traditions, and caring for those around her.
Born on July 11, 1944, in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, to Everette Mars Brazelton and Daisy June Brazelton Brannon, She attended El Cajon Valley High School and pursued her passion for style by studying cosmetology, a skill that would serve as a foundation for her future entrepreneurial ventures.
In 1964, Evette married Rocky Hamilton, with whom she had two daughters. They eventually moved west in 1976, and later divorced. Evette remained a powerhouse of productivity and ambition. She was a well-known beautician and a serial entrepreneur in her beloved town of Mangum, Oklahoma. Her business ventures included: White House Bed & Breakfast, H & H Western, Saltfork Trading Post, and Mangum Star Emporium.
Beyond her storefronts, she was deeply invested in the growth of Greer County. She was an active member of the Mangum Chamber of Commerce, and Greer County Economic Development. Her love for animals and youth led her to found the Mangum chapter of the 4-H Horse Club.
Evette was never one to sit still. She found joy in restoring antiques, caring for her horses and cats, and tirelessly working on new projects. Above all, she was dedicated to helping others and championed the prosperity of Mangum at every turn.
Evette was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings. Her memory will be cherished by her family: Daughters: Stacey (Phil) Warner of Bloomsdale, MO, and Nicole (Steven) Taylor of Stillwater, OK. And her Grandchildren: Tyler (Kirana) Warner, Logan (Sam) Cargo, Joshua Warner, Madison Taylor, and Austin Buller.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Casey and the staff at Charlie's Discount Drug, and Stillwater Medical Center's At Home Hospice for the genuine care and comfort provided during this difficult time.
The family will be hosting a ceremony to honor Evette's life that will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Outside Inn Bed & Breakfast at 503 N. Lewis Tittle Ave., Mangum, OK.
