Glen Dale "Poppy" Strain, 94, passed away on August 9, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on January 31, 1930, in Ringwood, Oklahoma, he was a cherished figure known for his resilient and mischievous spirit and captivating storytelling. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2024 and Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Strode Funeral Home. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation are in charge of the arrangements.

Poppy proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery and dedication. After his military service, he had a fulfilling career at the Oklahoma State University Power Plant. Following his retirement, Elsie and Glen became avid arts and crafts show participants.

He was a devout member of the Glencoe United Methodist Church, where he participated actively in his church and was frequently an usher. Poppy had a passion for raising cattle, giving each cow their own name and frequent scratches, and a fondness for rhubarb pie. He also loved traveling in his RV with family and friends, and took immense pride in his prized possession, "The Predator."

He is survived by his loving wife, Elsie (Hodges) Strain; daughter, Shirlann (Strain) Bishop; sons, Jimmy and Allen Strain; son-in-law, Don Bishop; daughter-in-law, Janet Strain; grandchildren, April (Bishop) Burkhart, Crystal (Bishop) Mitchell and her spouse John, Addie (Bishop) Rice and her spouse Rory, Bruce Strain and his spouse Shiloh, Tanara (Strain) Kelly and her spouse, Angela (Strain) Myers and her spouse Chris, JD Strain, and Jamie Strain; 13 great-grandchildren and their spouses; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mazzie Marjorie Brittain Strain and Bert Henry Strain.
