Obituary

Glenda Roe, age 89, died Sunday, November 3, 2024 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Visitation with family greeting friends will be 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Strode Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Stillwater, with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Glenda was born to Walter Sessions and Theatus Doggett Sessions as their first child on August 15, 1935. She was born in a sharecropper's clapboard farm house in Carter County, Oklahoma, about halfway between Wilson and Ringling. She started school at Zaneis, Oklahoma. The family lived in Los Angeles, California for 2 years during World War II, returned to Oklahoma, then to Saginaw, Texas in 1945. Glenda graduated from North Side High School in Ft. Worth in 1954.

On June 12, 1954, Glenda and Bobby Roe were married in a double wedding with her sister, Marsha, and Richard Teague. Glenda worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a business office Service Representative, while husband Bobby finished high school and college. After Bobby finished college, she became a homemaker and a pastor's wife.

From 1979 to 1983 Glenda attended Oklahoma Baptist University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She continued her education in Denver, Colorado where she earned her Nurse Practitioner certification. She worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in several Oklahoma County Health Departments. After retiring in 2002, Glenda and Bobby moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. "Jill of all trades and Master of some", Glenda was a seamstress, barber, cook, vegetable gardener, and "Queen of Duct Tape, E-poxy Glue, Band-Aids and Kisses".

She was predeceased in death by parents, Walter and Theatus Sessions and all their generations, her sister Marsha Teague and four cousins.

Family members include, her husband Bobby Roe of Pawnee; two sons, Steven R. Roe and wife Dephonie, Oklahoma City, Byron C. Roe, Pawnee, and daughter Monette Hunter and husband Dwayne of Stillwater; four grandchildren Alexander Roe, Seattle, Washington, Aaron Roe, Olympia, Washington, Anice Kelleher and husband Adam, Oklahoma City, and Ashlin Hunter, Los Angeles, California; two brothers, John Sessions and wife Kaye, Florida, and Jerry Sessions and his wife Wanda, Arlington, Texas; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of Brothers and Sisters in her spiritual family.
