Gloria Ethel Thomas Bailey, born February 10, 1938, in Langston, OK, passed away peacefully the 30th of January 2025. Gloria trusted in Jesus Christ, her favorite Bible verse was; Psalm 103: 1-5.
Gloria was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Stillwater, OK and later played a role in helping establish. The Believers Baptist Church and Greater Faith Baptist Church alongside her mother. She eventually returned to Mt. Zion Baptist Church before joining her nephew, Pastor William D. Lawson at LCM Church, where she remained a devoted member.
She attended Booker T. Washington Independent School and furthered her education at Rose College. Gloria was a proud member of The Amaranthus Chapter No., 95, O.E.S. of The Eastern Star Organization in Stillwater, Oklahoma as well as an active participant in The Vogue Club.
On September 3, 1965, she married Joseph Felix Orlanda Bailey. Throughout her life
Gloria was deeply involved in the business world, managing family-owned properties, and working at the family's Rose Bowl Cafe. She also worked as a seamstress and caregiver, dedicating herself to others. Her professional career included employment at the Atherton Hotel, OSU, and with the firebaugh family. She also contributed to her community by assisting with events at the First Presbyterian Church and working as a teacher at Project Head Start.
Gloria was known for her wisdom, strength, and compassion. She touched countless lives as a mentor and caregiver, earning the affectionate title of "mother or "auntie" from many who cherished her guidance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, siblings, children: Michael Adkins Thomas and Aretha June Bailey, grandson, Kevin Ledell Thomas and several other beloved family members. She is survived by her children: Keith Ivan Thomas, Iris A L Cole Thomas Slade and Stacey Requal Bailey Smiddy; her brother William D. Verner; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Gloria's Legacy of love and service will be fondly remembered by all.
