Gloria (nee Van Aulen) Cabeen of Stillwater, OK was born to Daniel and Generose Van Aulen in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on April 16, 1947 and passed away on June 3, 2024 at age 77. Her wake and rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 711 N. Country Club Road. Gloria's funeral Mass will follow 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Gloria married her husband of 50 years, Thomas (Tom) Cabeen on May 25, 1974 in New York City. Gloria and Tom lived for about 40 years in Milford, CT and then moved to Stillwater in late 2019 to be near their family.
Throughout her life, Gloria was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She carried herself always with a quiet dignity yet was full of mirth and often had a smile on her face. She took pleasure in using her considerable skills in the kitchen or in the sewing room to make delicious meals and crafts for others. Gloria and Tom's journey took them from being Jehovah's Witnesses in the 1970s ultimately to their home in the Roman Catholic Church, into which they were received in 2006 and in which Tom was ordained a deacon in 2014. Gloria had a firm and joyous faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ and a special devotion to His Blessed Mother. Indeed, her peaceful passing occurred during a Rosary in her home, surrounded by family.
She is lovingly remembered not only by her husband Tom but also by her two sons, Matt (Rose) Cabeen of Stillwater, OK and Jim Cabeen of Tulsa, OK. She is remembered by her four grandsons, Tommy, Ben, Henry, and Ian Cabeen, the sons of Matt and Rose. She was their "Nonna", and she was proud of her Italian heritage. Tommy loved learning French from her and speaking with her; Ben loved taking pottery lessons with her; Henry loved playing Boggle and word games with her; and Ian loved sewing and cooking with her. She is also survived by her brothers Daniel (Linda) and Larry Van Aulen, of Pennsylvania, and her nieces and nephews.
Gloria positively impacted the lives of numerous people, in Bible studies, groups at church, exercise classes, other interest groups, and the family and friends of her sons. We commend her soul to Christ, but we will miss her joyful presence here below.
