Gloria Swanson Davies, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025 in Perkins, OK.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 12 at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is charge of arrangements. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests donations be made in Gloria's memory to Sterling Baptist Church (PO Box 60 Sterling, OK 73567.)

Gloria was born in Lawton, OK to Guy and Delia Swanson. After graduating from Sterling High School, Gloria met a handsome soldier, Otis Davies, who was stationed at Ft. Sill at the time. Otis and Gloria were married on September 4, 1953 at the Swanson family home east of Lawton. Otis and Gloria later welcomed two children - June and Dale. They spent their married life in Lawton, OK; Washington D.C.; Germany; Ft. Huachuca, AZ; Ft. Hood, TX; Ft. Bliss, TX; and ultimately made their home in Sterling, OK. Otis preceded her in death in 2009.

Gloria was a homemaker and later worked for many years at the Sterling Grocery Store. She was a faithful member of the Sterling First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a wonderful cook and a loving mother, grandma and great-grandma. Gloria lived in Sterling until moving to Stillwater in 2024 to be near family.

Gloria is survived by her son Dale Davies and Sonja of Stillwater; sister Geneva Jacobi and Edmond of Sterling; brother Ben Swanson of Coweta; grandchildren: Berina Bear and Nick of San Angelo, TX, Kim Heater and Shaun of Fallon, NV, Derrick Davies and Robyn of Stillwater, and Danielle Weinrich and Matt of Stillwater; great-grandchildren: Rocky and Titus Heater, Brooks, Max and Mary Alyce Davies, and Eli and August Weinrich; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Otis, her daughter and her son-in-law June and Hughie Dement, brothers Glenn and Bill Swanson, sisters-in-law Marlene and Peggy Swanson, and great-grandson Derrick Davies Jr.
