Harry was born in Noble County, Oklahoma to Ernest and Kathryn (Ritthaler) Petermann on June 14, 1940. After graduating from Morrison High School, he completed his associate degree at Okmulgee Tech. After graduation Harry started his career at Boomer Lake Power Station in Stillwater, Oklahoma. His career was interrupted when he enlisted in the United States Navy on the USS Ranger Aircraft Carrier as an electronics technician. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he resumed his career, and retired as the Plant Superintendent after more than 40 years at Boomer Lake Station.
Harry loved to hunt, fish, work in the garden, work on the farm and woodworking projects. He was never one to sit around and was always busy fixing something (we believe he could fix about anything) or helping someone else with their current project. He built the family home with the help of family and friends. He was very involved with working at his church, Eden Chapel UMC, on whatever needed to be done. He was very involved with the construction of the current sanctuary in the 1980s and numerous other building/repair projects. He also worked on many projects at Big Creek Church of the Brethren.
Harry married Delores (Dee) Elaine Smith on August 29, 1970 in Orlando, Oklahoma. From this union two children were born and loved, Chris Petermann and wife Amy and Susan Day and Husband David, as well as three grandkids: Bryce Day and wife Elizabeth, Abigail Day and Alexandra Petermann. Dee preceded Harry in death on October 15, 2004.
Harry married Lucille Wiggs on February 1, 2006. From this union Harry gained one more son, Roger Davis and wife Linda, and two more daughters, Sharon Kindell and husband Gary and LaDonna Brower and husband LD. He also gained additional grandkids: Mandy Conner and husband Joe, Melissa Longhurst and husband Tyson, Justin Sappington and wife Emily, Curtis Meloy and wife Amber, Nathan Meloy and wife Stacey, Jay Taylor and wife Katie, Jaylynn Taylor, Jasmine & Jessie Taylor, Carrie Davis, Bill Buzan, Mike Buzan, Amber Davis and 12 great-grandchildren.
He loved spending time with all of his family at family meals, a game of dominoes or cards, fishing at the farm pond or at the lake and anything else that brought family together. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.
Harry is survived by his wife Lucille Petermann, son Chris and wife Amy, daughter Susan and husband David, and biological grandkids Bryce Day and wife Elizabeth, Abigail Day and Alexandra Petermann, and brother William (Bill) Petermann, Lucille's Family, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws and many, many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Dee, brothers Albert, Alfred, and Walter Petermann and sister Doris Bronner.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eden Chapel UMC, PO Box 441, Perkins, OK 74059 or Friends of the Perkins Library, PO Box 9, Perkins, OK 74059.
