Helen Pauline Witter Kopecky, age 97, died on March 6, 2025. A memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2025 at Stillwater First Presbyterian Church. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Helen was born August 22,1927 on her parent's ranch in Runnels County, Texas. She enjoyed learning from a very early age, attending a one room school house for two years until transferring to public school in Ballinger, Texas.
After graduating, she attended Colorado Women's College, Texas Tech University, Southwestern University. She completed a masters degree in business at University of Texas, Austin and a Ph.D in economics from the University of Houston.
She taught at Lee College, Baytown, Texas, Sam Houston University, Huntsville, Texas, and Oklahoma State University, from 1967 until retiring in 1997. While at OSU, she taught economics and served as the university's first affirmative officer for fifteen years until her retirement in 1997. She also taught for an OSU program in Kyoto, Japan.
During her retirement she started a farm in LeFlore county, building a house and raising miniature donkeys, llamas, and black angus cattle.
Pauline loved traveling, playing bridge, collecting antiques, collecting Japanese dolls, and Native American artwork.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Kay and her son, Jeff. She also had two grandchildren Adam Lynch and Chris Kopecky.
Her love of life and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
