Obituary

James Clarence Keethler Jr., age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on May 17, 2026, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was born on October 23, 1931, in Memphis, Missouri, to James Clarence Keethler and Emma Alberta Keethler (Newton). Viewing will begin at 1:30 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Glencoe Church of Christ in Glencoe, OK.

James lived a life marked by faith, service, and devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for over 20 years, including service aboard the USS Enterprise. Following his retirement from the Navy, he attended Ozark Bible College and answered a calling to ministry. He became a minister and never stopped sharing his love for the Lord with others. James also worked for the physical plant at Oklahoma State University until retirement in 1997. Throughout his life, he faithfully attended church, participated in mission trips and conferences, and remained passionate about evangelizing and encouraging others to follow Christ.

James was married to the love of his life, Glenda Sue Reed, for 52 years. Since her passing in 2009, he deeply missed her every day. His family rejoices in the comfort of knowing they are now reunited again.

Above all else, James loved the Lord, his family, and his church. He was a devoted father to Margaret Brewer, Susan Langston and her husband Todd, and James Clarence Keethler III and his wife Susan.

He was also a loving brother to John Keethler.

He was a proud grandfather to Wesley Brewer, John (Melissa) Brewer, Andrew Brewer, the late Matthew Brewer, Dolci (Earl) Dickens, Aubrey Cantrell, Anna (David) Silue, James Clarence Keethler IV, Rebecca (Matthew) Sample, and Christian Keethler. He also leaves behind many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were considered family.

In addition to his ministry and service, James enjoyed watching movies, refereeing sports, and watching sporting events of all kinds.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Sue Keethler; his parents, James Clarence Keethler and Emma Alberta Keethler; and two son-in-laws, Raymond Cantrell and Wes Brewer.

James will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his servant's heart, and the love he showed to his family and everyone around him. His greatest desire was for others to know the Lord and walk faithfully with Him.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Glencoe Church of Christ Youth Fund, 301 N. Perry, Glencoe, OK 74032.

His legacy of faith and love will continue through the many lives he touched.
