Obituary

James Morgan "Wimp" Patrick, at the age of 65, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of his arrangements for cremation and burial.

There will be no funeral services, but a Celebration of Life is planned for July 19th 2025 at Agra High School Gym at 2:00pm.

James was born January 8, 1960 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to J.A. and Kathleen Patrick. He was raised in Barnsdall, Oklahoma where he graduated from Barnsdall High School in 1978. He would go on to continue his education at Oscar Rose Jr. College as an art major. During his first year at college, James married high school sweetheart and love of his life, Lacy Evans of Perkins, OK. on August 18, 1979 in Perkins OK. They moved to Barnsdall, OK where they would raise their children, James Robert and Danielle Patrick. James was employed by the Petrolite Corporation for 22 years, starting as a common laborer and working up to head electrician and finally operation supervisor. During his time at Petrolite, James received training as an industrial firefighter instructor, received his national certification as a basic EMT. And served as Petrolite's First Aid/CPR Instructor for 5 years.

James returned to college in 2001. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Rogers State University in Political Science/History with a minor in Art. He then began teaching at Barnsdall Public Schools where he taught PK-12 art for five years. In 2011, James and his wife moved to Perkins, OK. He continued his education at OSU, receiving his Master's Degree in Education Psychology while also being employed as a graduate teaching assistant in 2012. He then joined Agra Public Schools as the PK-12 Art Instructor for two years. What followed was four more years as a graduate teaching assistant for OSU and two years at Mounds Public Schools as an Art Instructor. Finally, in 2021, James found himself returning to Agra Public Schools where he served as the art instructor, OK21CCLC Director, academic counselor, and Dean of Students all while continuing his education at OSU and receiving his second Master's Degree in Education Social Foundations. He later retired from Agra High School in May of 2025.

James was a dedicated husband and father. He was well known for his positive, happy demeanor and contagious, jolly laugh. He enjoyed teaching and sharing his artistic talent with his students, friends, and family. His presence will always be remembered as a bright place in the lives of those who were lucky enough to call him son, husband, dad, grampy, brother, teacher, and friend.

James is survived by his wife Lacy and their two children; James Robert Patrick and his wife Yvonne of Skiatook, Oklahoma and his daughter; Danielle Maddox and her husband Heath of Perkins, Oklahoma; his four grandchildren: Aidan Griggs, Killian and Connor Maddox, Jasmine Medeiros, and great-grandchild Gwyn Medeiros; mother, Kathleen Patrick; sister, Charnell "Sue" Allan and her husband David; brother, Jerry Patrick; brother-in-law, Lloyd Evans and his wife Kenna; nieces and nephews Kennedy, Kassidy, Will, Anna Kate, Ryan Patrick, Christopher Holden and Nathan Holden.

Preceding James in death are his father, J. A. Patrick; his father-in-law, Robert Evans; his mother-in-law, Yvonne Evans, and brother-in-law Joel Evans.
