Stillwater resident Jesse Jed Cunningham Jr., 75, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026 at his home.


Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May, 28, 2026 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church (902 S. Knoblock St., Stillwater, OK 74074). Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.


Jesse was born November 7, 1950 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Jesse Cunningham Sr. and Jessie Ann (Vick) Cunningham. He attended Washington Grade School and later graduated from C.E. Donart High School in Stillwater. Mr. Cunningham then served in the United States Army. He graduated from Huston-Tillotson University at Austin, TX with a Master's Degree. Jesse then began a career teaching grade school at Woodlawn Elementary School in San Antonio, TX. He taught for 36 years before retiring and returning to Stillwater. Jesse enjoyed going to bible study every Thursday at Westhaven Nursing Home.


He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Jean Marie Bowen (Cunningham) and Lorrice V. Williams (Adkins).


Survivors include a 2 brothers, Barrice Adkins of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Victor Adkins and wife Jennifer of Sacramento, California, a sister Phyllis (Atkins) Strong and husband Erick of Covington, Georgia, and numerous other family members and friends.
