James (Jim) Duff Hughey, 85, died August 29, 2024. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Cherokee, Oklahoma with burial following in the Cherokee Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the OSU Alumni Center with burial following in Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Jim was born to George and Martha Rebecca (Hill) Hughey on December 21, 1938 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. He married David Coleman on January 22, 2018 in Stillwater. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at OSU. He went on to Purdue where he earned his Master of Science and his PhD.

Jim enjoyed traveling. He Liked cruises, theatre, and country music.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ira (Sr) Hughey, and sister George Ann Garrison.

He is survived by his husband; his cousin, Coleen Alward and her husband Charlie; second cousin Erin Despain-Alward and husband Jeff as well as their, children Quinn and Dax Alward; niece Martha (Hughey) Kinney and husband Robin; as well as his nephew, Ira (Jr) Hughey and his wife Christine.
