Obituary

Jimmie Dale Stormont passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, surrounded by his family in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Funeral services to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Jim was born on October 4, 1942, in Anthony, Kansas, to Arlie Dale (Mike) and Mary Cissel Stormont. He was raised on the family farm North West of Wakita, Oklahoma, and attended Wakita schools until graduation in 1960. On August 13, 1961, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Joan Myers. Together they had two sons, Jay (Darren) and Terrill. Meanwhile, Jim graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1964, and then began his long-standing career with the USDA. The family moved all around Oklahoma before settling down in Stillwater. There in town, Jim and Pat were long-time members of First Baptist Church, where Jim served as a deacon.

Jim loved Oklahoma State sports. A loyal and true fan. He had season tickets to wrestling, basketball, and football for decades, and never missed an away game on TV or the radio. Above all else, however, Jim loved his family. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jim enjoyed traveling and being outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting. He adored his grandchildren and "great-grands," and loved spending time with them.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Mary Stormont. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pat Stormont of Stillwater; his sisters, Janet Coulter of Oklahoma City and Donna Luna of Emporia, KS; his sons and daughters-in-law, Darren and Kem Stormont of Stillwater, and Terrill and Heather Stormont of Stillwater; his seven grandchildren: Tara and husband, Nate Cisper, of Boise, ID, Erika Stormont of Tulsa, Jessica Stormont of Stillwater, Cody Stormont of Perkins, Alexandra and husband, Preston Dobbs, of Leander, Texas, Madison Stormont of Oklahoma City, and Jarrett Stormont of Stillwater; as well as his five great-grandchildren: Jaycie, Lola, Stormie, Remi, and Rhett.
