Obituary

Jimmy Wayne Hill, 85, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away on December 6, 2024. Born on January 4, 1939, in Antlers, Oklahoma, he was a devoted husband, loving father, and committed follower of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2024 at Sunnybrook Christian Church of Stillwater. Jimmy grew up in a rural setting and had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He enrolled at Oklahoma State University at the age of 16 where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering and was a member of the Flying Aggies. His first job took him to western Oklahoma where he met his loving wife of 63 years, Jo Ann Peters Hill. He spent over three decades with the Soil Conservation Service working to improve, protect and conserve natural resources. In retirement he continued with his various land development projects and provided engineering and land survey services to others.

He was a dedicated and hard worker, but always made time for the people in his life. He enjoyed numerous outdoor activities with family and friends such as traveling, flying, hunting, and fishing. In particular, he enjoyed spending cool summers in the mountains of southern Colorado.

His number one passion was to know and follow Jesus, and to share the good news with others. He was active in his local church, community, Gideons International, and will be remembered for his faith, integrity, kindness, generosity, and a lifetime of helping others. He left a lasting impact on most everyone who knew him.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Cletis and Elsie Hill and sister Sue Bollinger. He is survived by his wife, children John (Fidela) of Scottsdale, Arizona and Julie (Steve) Raney of Edmond, grandchildren Allie (Cooper) Nichols of Wichita, Kansas and Dr. Austin Raney of Memphis, Tennessee, great-grandchildren Clark and Raney Nichols, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International, Sunnybrook Christian Church, or Sunnybrook Christian School.
