Joe Rylant, age 80, of Perkins, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, the 4th of July, 2024. Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 at Strode Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the LifePoint Church in Perkins. Interment will follow in Perkins Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Joe was born October 28, 1943 in Ponca City Oklahoma to Jimme Lee and Alta June Coffman Rylant and married Victoria May Moser in 1961. He was a graduate of Perkins High School in 1963. In December of 1963, Joe and Vicki welcomed Penni Lynn Rylant to the family and in November of 1965, Marty Joe Rylant was born making their family complete.

Early in his marriage, Joe learned watchmaking from his friend, Burton Coate. In 1964 he began to work for H.O. Farris at Farris Jewelers in the student union on the campus of O.S.U. where he became a certified gemologist. Ten years later he bought the store from Mr. Farris where he made his living and made many precious friends. In the 70s and 80s, Joe spent his time working at the jewelry store, in his office and taking care of his cows. When Joe became a PaPa, he poured his heart into his grandkids.

Joe is predeceased by his parents, Jimmie and Alta Rylant; his brother Bob Rylant; sister-in-law, Dolores Rylant; brother-in-law Lonnie Tabor; nephew Victor Tabor; and great granddaughter Elzie Lynn Cochran.
He is survived by his wife Vicki; daughter Penni Deaver and husband Dwayne Deaver; son Marty Joe Rylant and Crecia Rylant; his sister Judy Tabor; his grandchildren Austin Deaver, Reagan Deaver Cochran, Kaleb Rylant and Braxton Gilleland; six great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
