John Jay Dean, 72, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Strode Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater, Oklahoma with Larry Eslinger officiating. John will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
John was born on January 16, 1953, in Stillwater to Anthony J. "Tony" Dean and Evelyn Orene Dean. He grew up in Ripley and graduated from Ripley High School. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University, where he was a proud member of the Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR) fraternity and pursued agricultural studies.
John married the love of his life, Bennie Kaye Meier, in Ripley, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. John worked for many years as a truck driver, working for Griswold Cattle before retiring. He was known for his dedication and work ethic.
John was an active member of the Glencoe and Ingalls Masonic Lodges and was proud of his time in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) from 1967 to 1974, earning recognition as the State Star Farmer in 1971. He enjoyed working on the farm with his cattle and especially loved spending time with his family.
John will be remembered for his strong spirit and the love he shared with those around him.
John is survived by his wife Bennie and their three children, Anthony Dean, Shawn Jones, and Robin Flowers; Brother Francis Dean; Sisters Vina Spickler, Florence Taylor & Husband Robbie; grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Ashley Griffin, Brittany Flowers, Tyler Flowers, Braden Rush, Alexis Dean, Bailey Dean, Eli Griffin, Saige Griffin, Landon King, Madden Clem, Kensli Flowers, and Wade Flowers.
Preceding John in death are his parents Anthony and Evelyn Dean; grandchildren Colton and Dustin Dean.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to support his wife, Bennie Dean, at BlueSky Bank in Stillwater.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at Stillwater and OU Medical Centers for the compassionate care provided to John during his final days.
