John William Owings was born on September 27, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri to David Edward and Emma Francis (McCarty) Owings. He passed from this life on October 17, 2026, at the age of 84 years, at his home.

John enjoyed life’s simple pleasures such as time with family, a good day of fishing, followed by a fish fry and a poker game. A barbeque with friends and the game of horse shoes was a favorite. He enjoyed cooking and baked hundreds of cookies at Christmas alongside his wife Lynn.

John worked as a truck driver until he was 71 years old. He won many safety awards and traveled millions of miles across the United States.

John is survived by: his step-son: Robert Anderson and wife Gracie of Stillwater, and

His step-daughter: Kim Jackson of Owasso, Oklahoma;

Grandchildren: Shaun, Chelsea, Dylan, and Garrett, four great grandchildren; and

his loyal dog: Toby.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda (Lynn) Owings.

He was a loyal husband and took great care of his wife, especially this past year until her recent passing. The family would like to thank the Stillwater At Home Hospice team for their great care.

John’s graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
