Johnny Leon Rathbun Sr., age 72, of Pawnee, died Monday, October 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Johnny was born to Lee and Audrey (Merriman) Rathbun on December 19, 1950 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He attended schools in Maramac, Pawnee, and Yale. He married Bonnie Negelein on December 20, 1971 in Maramac.

He served in the United States Marines from 1969 - 1971. He was a Vietnam Veteren. During his life he had many careers, including ranch hand, mechanic, and a public-school custodian.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents Lee and Audry and brothers Danny Lee, Frankie, and Anthony.

Members of his family include his wife, Bonnie; sons John Jr. and Joshua; grandchildren Alex, Samantha, Crysta, Marlana, Serenity, and Kayla; and great grandchildren Dawson, Bonita, and Aaliyah; sisters Sharon Vaughan and Susan Burtrum; and several nieces, nephews, and assorted relatives.
