Obituary

Juanita Jo (Morris) Miller, 93, of Stillwater, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord on April 15, 2023 in San Clemente, California. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Juanita was born on November 25, 1929 to Hosea and Dona Morris in Purcell, Oklahoma. She married Kenneth A. Miller, her beloved husband of 63 years, September 15, 1951 in Wayne, Oklahoma.

Her life demonstrated many gifts, talents, and accomplishments. She was a career woman before marriage, serving in the McClain County Courthouse as Administrative Assistant to the District Attorney. Jo then spent the next 25 plus years as a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother. Her "retirement job", working with international students gaining access to telecommunications at OSU, brought her fulfillment and joy.

Jo's gift of hospitality led her to sponsor various OSU international students and their families, OSU International Wives Club; and to entertain groups of church friends, and of course family. Visits from family, including frequent lunches out with nieces and nephews, were a highlight to her day in her later years.

Her home always reflected her talent for interior design and a sense of style. She loved gardening, often sharing her flowers and plants with friends.

A gifted seamstress, in her teens creating beautiful dresses for her sisters and sisters-in-law and then later for her daughters.

She was an encourager, learning to express and maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations, well into her later years.

A woman of faith, Jo was often being seen reading her Bible-in-a Year, always prioritizing church activities and events. Jo was a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher of 4-year-olds-her favorite age group.

Mother of three, grandmother to three, great grandmother of seven, and aunt to 21 nieces and nephews. She loved her visits to California as much as being visited in Oklahoma.

She supported the extracurricular activities of her children. We see glimpses of her in her eldest's lovely home and family; her middle's serving overseas, and in her youngest's success in musical performance.
Jo is survived by daughters Kerry Staley and Nancy Miller; son, Mark Miller and partner Wade Burkholder; grandchildren Sam and his wife Kimberly, Matt and his wife Dawn, and Tyler and his wife Jennifer Staley; great-grandchildren, Casper, Ezra, Noah, Ben, Joey, Jonny, and Will Staley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth; three sisters; four brothers; and son-in-law Jim Staley.
